I pull the foreground forward with a unifying wash, and add texture, being careful not to let the foreground upstage the bird. I add shadow to the branch and crabapple stems.

There's a lot going on around the year at Dandelion Cottage. The gardens are ever changing, as is the beautiful New England scenery. And, of course there are the chickens... It's a painter's paradise.
